An interturn short-circuit fault in the stator winding of an electric machine, denoted as turn fault, has been recognized one most severe faults permanent magnet machines, which require a swift and reliable detection, order to implement appropriate mitigations. The asymmetry brought by is widely used for detection. However, similar features also emerge less high-resistance connection (HRC) may lead incorrect identification. In this article, more exclusive detection method with ability differentiate from HRC proposed. It injects high-frequency square-wave voltage signals makes use difference impedance under two conditions. sensitivity largely reduced. proposed indicator independent operating conditions robust respect state transients.
